Heavenly Hope Baptist Church is working ministry. We believe in getting Gods word out into the community and world. Below are a few of the many ways God is working through our church. We want to spread His word to every ear that will hear it,
Radio Ministry
Heavenly Hope Baptist Church is a small congregation, with a huge mission to Outreach. It is pastored by Rev. Dean Smith. Our church is located in the south west Virginia town of Chilhowie. The church is very proud of its radio ministry, "Voice of Hope Broadcast", and Pastor Dean Smith can be heard on our local radio station, WIGN1550 AM, at 2pm on Thursdays.
The radio ministry is done in hopes that God's word can reach as many people as possible. It allows those that are physically unable to join us in person to hear each weeks sermon. We invite you to use our link above to visit WIGN 1550 to tune in to "Voice of Hope".
Prison Ministry
Our church was founded on a prison ministry. Before our now standing church was present. Pastor Smith visited local prisons , spreading Gods word, delivering bibles, and praying with those within the prison system. Pastor Smith found that many of those he ministered to were at there lowest in life, and needed God. This prison ministry holds a special place in the heart and foundation of Heavenly Hope Baptist Church.
Cottage Ministry
We have a cottage ministry and hold church services in the homes of our shut in members. Our church understands the need to hear Gods word and feel His presence in person. This is a wonderful fellowship opportunity and has been a blessing to our congregation.
We do a nursing home ministry and visit local nursing homes where we hold church service and fellowship with them. We currently go to Valley Nursing Home in Chilhowie, Va on every third Monday of the month. We also go to Abingdon Health and Rehab on the last Friday of every month. Our members truly enjoy this special time of fellowship. We encourage you to join us.
